Starbucks Rewards Program is the best way to save money when you buy your drinks! I will show you why it is a smart move to join!
If you go to Starbucks a couple of times a week, or even once a week, and aren’t a member of Starbucks Rewards, you are missing a chance to earn free drinks, food items, and even a free tumbler that you keep seeing on Instagram!
How can I join Starbucks Rewards?
You can join Starbucks Rewards by signing up on their website or downloading the Starbucks app. I recommend you sign up on the app because it is very easy and it will show you how to get your account ready!
It is free to join Starbucks Rewards and you get two stars for every dollar that you spend which you can use towards free items.
How do I add a gift card to my Starbucks Rewards account?
When you join the Starbucks Rewards program, it will automatically give you a digital card that you can add funds to. You can either keep that card or add another Starbucks gift card if you bought one or got one as a gift!
To add a gift card in the Starbucks app:
- Tap on the scan button at the bottom of your screen
- Tap the plus symbol on the top right corner
- Tap on the add gift card and follow the directions
How do I pay using the Starbucks App?
Starbucks has recently added different ways that you can spend in the stores and still get your stars!
The first way is adding money to your card, which you can do that in-store by telling the barista that you want to reload your card. The total has to be $5 or more.
You can also add money to the app with your credit card. The total on the app has to be $10 or over.
There is even an option where you can add a recurring payment on the app so you don’t have to worry about reloading every time you visit your local Starbucks.
The two new ways that they added are that you can add your credit card to the app and use that for the payment! You will only get one star for each dollar you spend, so it is still a better choice to use your Starbucks card because you get two stars for each dollar that you spend.
The other way is the Scan only option. This way is perfect if you are using cash or a credit card that you don’t want to add to the app. Just have the barista scan it and you will get one star for each dollar that you spend!
What can I get with my stars at Starbucks?
As I said above, you get two stars for each dollar that you spend but if you want to use a credit card that is on your app or want to only use the “scan only” way, you will get one star for each dollar that you spend.
There are five ways to spend your stars.
- 25 stars will get you a one add shot, diary substitute, syrup, or sauce. (up to $1)
- 50 stars will get you one any size brewed coffee, hot tea, or pastry item. (if you get an added shot in a hot coffee or a syrup, it will take it off with the 50 stars! If you like hot coffee, this is your best deal!)
- 150 stars are one any size beverage or breakfast items like breakfast sandwiches, Egg bites, oatmeal, or a parfait! (Like with the hot coffee, whatever you had to your drink, it will be taken off the total with the 150 stars)
- 200 stars are for one of their lunch sandwiches, salads, or protein boxes.
- 400 stars will get you the best deal! You can get merchandise or coffee beans! It goes up to $20 so if the item is over that, you will have to pay for the rest of the total.
When do my Starbucks Stars Expire?
The stars are good for six months! Another awesome thing about the stars, you will get an email about stars that are about to expire so you won’t forget!
What is Double Star day at Starbucks?
Double Stars day is one of my favorite things about the rewards program! It happens once a month and they will send you emails about it so you won’t miss it! You will get four stars instead of two! If I have my eye on a cup or a pound of coffee beans, I wait until double stars day so I can walk away with 40 to 80 stars!
How do I get a free birthday drink?
You have to be a member of the Starbucks Rewards to get a free drink or food item on your birthday! You can get any size drink with any extras you want to add to the drink! The birthday reward only lasts one day… your birthday! Make sure you add your special day as soon as you sign up. A barista told me that it takes time for it to be added to your account.
How do I get the Happy Hour deal?
There is a good chance that you have heard about Happy hours. Twice a month, Starbucks will do a Buy one, get one deal on Thursdays 2 to 7 pm! So when you sign up for the rewards program, you are invited to this awesome deal! (Note: the deal only works on the grande size and larger and it doesn’t work on brewed coffee, hot teas which include honey citrus mint tea!)
